About Bright

Bright is Mexico’s #1 residential solar provider (think Sunrun for the developing world, starting first in Mexico). We provide the distributed solar operating system that enables thousands to offer cheaper electricity to homes at no upfront cost. We work with our network of project financiers, local installers, and local distributors to satisfy the resulting demand. Our first market is Mexico, which has more sun, higher electricity rates, and lower labor costs than the US. Bright's investors include First Round Capital, Y Combinator, Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Servitje, the founders of Sunrun and Tesla, and other top Silicon Valley firms.

About the position

​

Now that we’re on the precipice of closing our Series C, we are recruiting an execution-oriented Chief Operating Officer to run Bright’s day-to-day operations as we >2x each year for the foreseeable future in order to get to 30% market share in the country. This mission-driven leader will be responsible for most operational functions at Bright, including operations, customer service, sales, marketing, legal, and public policy while the CEO will tackle finance, software, and product.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a proven track record: growing a $5MM+ ARR business with ~30-90 day sales cycles with at least 15 years of relevant work experience. Bonus if you’ve done so using a diverse set of sales channels

• Is able to execute with precision and with a constrained budget: You’re able to turn the CEO’s vision into a reality by implementing processes with measurable results and doing so under a conservative budget. You have experience establishing lead scoring methodologies, allocating prospects based on robust rules to maximize conversion, and you demonstrate a keen understanding of the leading factors/metrics to drive sales.

• Is a master at prioritization: You’re able to ruthlessly prioritize in a fast-paced environment with many conflicting interests. You set deadlines, follow up, and hold your team accountable.

• Is a strong communicator in both English and Spanish: You can mentor and hold high standards for concise, actionable and streamlined communication for a remote, distributed team. You are prepared to act as a spokesperson for both the staff and C-suite of a company and have experience owning internal communications.

• Is able to delegate with ease: You are an expert at matching departments’ strengths and skills with the tasks and goals at hand so that everyone on the team can be effective and motivated toward the same vision. You’ll clearly define goals for each team member.

• Has a proven ability to recruit and develop a high-performing team: lowering attrition and promoting from within.

• Biases towards urgency: you’re great at solving problems in short periods of time.

• Is a selfless leader: You care deeply about those you work with and see your job to better serve them so they can deliver on our mission to reverse global warming.

• Is located within a 3 hour time zone of CDMX: we’re fully distributed so we’re flexible in terms of where you spend most of your time!

 

Your tasks and responsibilities will be to:

• Achieve 30% market share in Mexico. Our plan is to double year over year in kWs installed over the next couple years while enhancing unit economics. Key to do so will be realistic and well thought out plans that achieve full stakeholder alignment and involve rigorous reporting on both leading and lagging measures.

• Increase our operational efficiency: Bright needs to scale as a technology driven company - you'll be key in partnering with our software and product teams to scale Bright more effectively and efficiently as we expand into new markets in the LatAm region.

• Recruit and manage a world class team: We see the opportunity to continue to raise the bar on our talent pool as we grow our current distributed team of ~130 folks. You’ll be critical to making sure we do so.
